The years of transition between being an innocent child and responsible adult are called Adolescence. The age between ten to nineteen years is the most important phase of our lives. Adolescence can also be described with the following words – confusion, chaos, growth and fun ! Ask any adult what they consider the best days of their lives and almost everyone will recall their adolescent period !

The physical, sexual, emotional and social changes in adolescents are normal and natural. They are due to release of various hormones in both boys and girls.

This journey of self-exploration and interaction with the world is characterized by contradictions, fantasies, surprises and uncertainties. They bring a lot of joy and immense possibilities, but, sometimes posing threats and long term impacts.

It is recognized as a phase rather than a fixed time period in the life of an individual. Apart from changes in the body and mind, this period also involves changes in social perceptions and expectations. During adolescence, a child goes through multifarious changes causing issues in their day to day lives. Some issues are sometimes so personal, that they do not even share their concerns with anybody – even their parents. To raise a healthy and happy adolescent a counsellor can be of a great help.

We understand that adolescent health is not just about “Hormones kicking in”. We are dedicated to giving you the very best in counselling and guidance, advising, and parent coaching.

The counsellor can go deep into the root of the problem and identify the areas of the problem to be able to help the adolescent to cope or overcome the problem he or she might be facing. The focus of the counsellor is to first help the young person to accept themselves as they are. This is targeted steadily by doing the following –

  • Help them build self-confidence and self-esteem
  • Help them develop interpersonal relationship skills
  • Provide advice on handling personal problems.
  • Help them to inculcate good moral values and practice them in day to day life.

The counsellor can also ably guide the Parents to help them create a nurturing, healthy and open environment at home for better development of the child in these formative years.
